End of year...

First as you can see everything went black on hallways around ˝ P.O.D.R.U.M. ˝ . After some work from our friendly janitor and the rich fucked architects all is covered in fancy paint, and still they promised some silver outlines. All in all i am kinda used to see all black right now :) Kinda apocalyptic don't you think :) So what are the highlights this year in Basement you wonder? I can't tell but i do know that Gride, Finisterre, Cyness for me were one of the best. Also our happy place gave birth to some new punk bands in Rijeka which is totally cool. We will see what happens with that in the next year. And after all this holiday mumbo jumbo some nice bands are already booked for upcoming winter and spring... So there my friends, fell free to write to us any place any time :)

p.s. punk rock saved our lives

Construction works @ the basement

No, it's not a name of a new band, but - as you can see - this Wednesday morning I went to the basement to see what's happening. In case you don't know, a few days ago, our neighbors, the almighty architects from the top floor, started some construction works. They want to rearrange and paint the main hall in our building. You can see how it looks like on the photos above. In a few days all the work downstairs will be finished so for another show we might have a completely new room for the bands! Of course, it will still be a little DIY as fuck room for a small number of people. But we can handle it, righty right? After all, punk is dead, ha! Maybe some more photos will come after we clean everything up... Also, I'll give you a hint that there will be one more show before new year. So, check the web once in a while for announcements.

Noise in an empty room

There was Smetnja with his accordion & hammer theatrics, like a Siberian peasant with a penchant for jesting. There was Suburban Howl, like a folk singer whose notes had disappeared 'twixt middle-class family houses turning into wolves. There was Fukte with a steady priest-posture, summoning gritty sounds that grind on buried caskets. For the pack of eight or nine that attended, it was a fun and noisy show. For everyone else, you've always got your cookie cutter bullshit. Obviously, noise can also be produced in a standardized, classic manner, but it's the irrational disappointment caused by nonattendance that's talking + I'm sick of neocrust.

Small report and photos from the infected nest

As you already know, last friday we had a benefit show for the Infoshop Škatula. We would like to thank all the people who showed up and supported the future activities at Delta 5/I. A lot of people, friends and relatives joined the party. Some of the friends were missing as usual, but in general it was quite good. Well, for some people. I had to leave around midnight because of my sickness (yes, they say it's a swine flu, so maybe this is my last post... oh no, dear fucking god!).
Anyway, Infoshop collected enough money to cover all the bills from summer till the present days. Enjoy the photos (thanks goes to Jadranka and Romano!) and hopefully we see you on the next show. A new announcment will be posted in a few days. Take care...

Some photos....

Since 1.5.2008. the basement or P.O.D.R.U.M. hosted really a lot of bands. From all over the world. So these are pictures of bands that destroyed our small venue with their ferocity and energy. Seriously am I so unhappy to inform that I lost my camera and couldn't take some more pics of everything that happened but these are just to see for you how it works down there :) Also some of them are stolen from other blogs, web sites etc.

On pictures above : Thema Eleven, Cyness, La Casa Fantom, Wojczech, Ljubiša Samarđić

Benefit for Infoshop Škatula

After a really great time at the Anti-Fa festival in Pula last weekend, we can announce one more concert for the 20th of November, Friday. As we mentioned before, there will be a benefit show for Infoshop Škatula. Anomalija (pissed off and fucked up metalgrindcrust) from Labin, Etnah (slow and raw sludge up your ass) and Hands That Mold (dual lo-fi-core powerviolent grindsludge massacre) - both from Rijeka - will play that night. The show will start at 10PM (seriously, 10PM!!!), so don't be late if you don't want to miss the bands. Before the concert, you're welcome to join us at the "Take It Or Leave It" action in the living room of the Infoshop, enjoy some film projections, and eat a lot of vegan food from 8PM until we finish with everything. ;)
More info here:

Take your friends, moms and dads and come to the venue...
And please, keep in mind that smoking inside the living room / concert place and fucked up behavior will not be tolerated! Thanks in advance...
Any donations are also welcome... so, see you on Friday the 20th!

P.S. - if it's your first time in Rijeka and you need a place to stay, let us know and we will arrange something.

Some news and announcements

So it's almost 2:00 after midnight and I'm here in the Infoshop trying to refresh myself. Yesterday was a really crazy night. Our dear friend Cox (oh, you have to see him now, he's sleeping like a little baby) arrived on Friday morning and we had a plan to go to Zagreb together, because tomorrow (ok, tonight) there will be a concert in AKC Medika. Status//Hysterie (some of the members also play in a band called Finisterre - they were in our little shithole back in July) from Germany, True from Samobor and our dear friends Junk Messiah (some of the members were active in a well known R'n'R band, Vaseline Children) from Zagreb. Can't wait to see some old friends there. It will also be exciting to hitchhike again in the morning because last time I was on the road to Zagreb was sometimes in June. I can say that this 150km distance is not a problem for me anymore; for a really long period I traveled to Zagreb and back all the time so I'm always bored with the trip. Anyway, I hope that Sunday's metalpunk show will be a blast!

Next weekend we'll go to the 6th anti-fa festival in Pula. You can check the schedule and off program here:
We're there every year and this one will not be an exception. The Food Not Bombs collective from Rijeka will be in charge of cooking so I hope I'll eat some nice vegan food he, he...

After a 10 day break, we'll have another show (Attack of the Mad Axeman from Germany is playing) in our little basement. For more info just scroll down. We also have some plans to do one benefit show for Infoshop Škatula sometimes in November so you'll be informed about that too. Besides the concert, there will be some other activities as well.

That's it for now. Wish us luck in the morning while we're on the road (again and again!!!)
